Green epoxy floor coating with white bay lines in a basement car park in Qatar

Overview

A sealed, marked floor in one programme

Epoxy flooring in Qatar solves two problems at once for a basement car park or warehouse: it seals a dusty, oil-stained concrete slab into a hard, cleanable surface, and it gives the bays, lanes and walkways a base they will actually bond to. UniGulf Traffic prepares the slab, applies the epoxy system and marks the layout on top with the same crews, so a car park or warehouse is coated, coloured and marked before the handover date, without two contractors arguing over who scratched the floor.

An epoxy floor is a resin system applied in layers: a primer that soaks into the prepared concrete, a body coat that builds thickness and colour, and a topcoat that provides the wear, chemical and UV performance. Depending on the duty we specify a thin roller-applied coating for lightly used areas, a high-build or self-levelling system for car parks and workshops, or a polyurethane topcoat where UV stability, flexibility or a hot-tyre-resistant finish is needed on ramps and exposed decks. Anti-slip aggregate is added where ramps, wet areas and walkways need grip.

The floor is only as good as the preparation. We shot-blast or diamond-grind the slab to open the surface, repair cracks and spalls, and check moisture and adhesion before the first coat goes down — the steps that separate a floor that lasts from one that peels in year one.

What we do

Epoxy flooring scope

Coating systems for concrete floors, from a single workshop to a multi-level car park:

Materials & specification

Systems, build and cure

We install two-part epoxy systems from established manufacturers, selected to the duty. A roller-applied coating system of primer plus two coats gives roughly 0.3–0.5 mm and suits plant rooms and light-use areas; a high-build or self-levelling epoxy of 1–3 mm suits car parks, warehouses and workshops with forklift and vehicle traffic; a polyurethane topcoat is added where the floor sees sunlight, thermal movement or hot tyres. Colours follow the client’s zoning scheme, with line marking applied in compatible epoxy or polyurethane line paint once the floor has cured.

Cure times are temperature dependent: foot traffic typically the next day, light vehicles after 2–3 days and full chemical cure within about a week, which we build into the programme with the marking scheduled at the right point.

Where it is used

Where epoxy floors are installed

Basement and multi-storey car parks under towers, malls and hotels; logistics warehouses, cold stores and distribution centres; factory and workshop floors; vehicle service bays and wash areas; plant rooms, corridors and back-of-house areas. The floor is almost always finished with bay and lane marking; on outdoor decks and ramps we combine it with MMA anti-skid surfacing, and on the surrounding roads with acrylic line marking. Through our group partners we also deliver firestop and fireproofing in the same buildings — see other services.

How we work

Our road marking process — survey to handover

01

Site visit & survey

An engineer measures the site, checks the surface condition, confirms the layout against your drawings or the QCS/Ashghal standard and agrees access, traffic management and working hours.

02

Setup & surface preparation

Traffic control is placed, old or faded lines are removed if required, and the surface is cleaned, dried and primed where the material specification calls for it.

03

Application

Markings are set out and applied with our own machines — thermoplastic, cold paint or MMA — with glass beads dropped on for retro-reflectivity and thickness checked during the run.

04

Inspection & handover

Dimensions, colour, thickness and reflectivity are checked, snags are closed the same visit, and you receive a handover with material data sheets for your submittal file.

Why UniGulf Traffic

A road marking contractor main contractors can rely on

Own equipment

Thermoplastic pre-heaters and screed applicators, airless spray line stripers, bead dispensers and removal equipment are ours — no waiting on hired plant.

Night-shift & closure windows

Crews are set up for lane closures, night works and airside or live-traffic sites where the marking window is a few hours, not a few days.

10+ years in Qatar

A decade of highways, car parks, airports and industrial sites in Qatar heat, dust and traffic — and the materials that survive it.

Itemised quotations

Every quotation is broken down by line type, length or area, material and mobilisation so QS teams can compare and approve it quickly.

Site conditions & price

Site conditions and what affects the price

Epoxy flooring is priced per square metre by system, plus preparation, repairs and marking. The system build is the main driver — a thin coating is a fraction of the cost of a self-levelling floor — followed by preparation: a new, sound slab needs grinding and priming, while an old slab with oil contamination, cracks, spalls and failed coatings needs far more work before the first coat. Access, ventilation and working in occupied buildings at night add shifts. Because cure times are fixed, the programme matters: we plan the coating and marking sequence so each level is handed back in order.

FAQ

Epoxy flooring — FAQ

Questions we get from QS teams, consultants and facility managers. Anything else — call +974 5556 3941.

A correctly prepared and specified high-build epoxy or epoxy/PU system typically gives many years of service in a basement car park, with the highest wear at ramps, turning areas and entrances where a thicker build or PU topcoat is specified.
Yes, after preparation: shot-blasting or grinding to remove contamination and open the surface, repairs to cracks and spalls, and an adhesion check before priming. Skipping this is why epoxy floors fail.
Foot traffic the next day, light vehicles after 2–3 days and full chemical cure in about a week, depending on temperature. Marking is applied once the floor has cured.
A smooth topcoat can be. We broadcast an anti-slip aggregate on ramps, wet areas and walkways to achieve the specified slip resistance.
Epoxy for the body of the system, indoors; polyurethane as the topcoat where the floor sees sunlight, thermal movement or hot tyres, such as exposed decks and ramps. We specify the combination to the location.
Yes — that is the point of doing both with one contractor. Bays, numbers, arrows, walkways and EV bays are marked in compatible line paint once the floor has cured, and handed over together.
